WESTLIFE PLANET

LAYOUT
Pleasing shade, easy to read fonts and attractive sub header style writing, not too cluttered with no garish colour clashes Simple layout in frame, but effective. A swift peek at previous layouts was impressive, not just a swift colour change but a complete redesign each time it seems. Layout page, dates would be useful to gauge when each layout was in force. ( because I’m nosey!)

GRAPHICS
Nice selection, bookmarks, wallpapers, avatars and of a high standard. Plenty to browse through within fun section

CONTENT
An all round Westlife site tackling most facets, some news keeping site topical, but obviously this isn’t a news site so fair enough but would have liked to see articles and magazine scans maybe from Holland? As it’s the home of web mistress. Nice feature including Westlife partners but there does need to be more content throughout the site in general. What is here is informative and correct. A hearty photo section – good size scans covering each subsection, making viewing and finding a pleasure. Fan photos – extensive! Screen cap signed by the lads an extra point just for the uniqueness but why hide such a coup within site statistics? Please give this gem a page of its own!

NAVIGATION
Spot on, within each section many further subsections but easy to circumnavigate. Unfortunately quite a few of the back buttons aren’t working. but minor details as thankfully the in frame setup of the site saves you from getting totally lost. The layout appears new from what I recall (yes I do have this site added to my favourite list as it happens!) So the layout changeover may still be at early stages. Please sort this out – it’s irritating after a while and interested fans may leave a good site in frustration. It’s a few hours work and besides this glaring fault the rest of site seems faultless.

LOADING TIME
Loads quickly enough, though would perhaps load quicker without the javascript prompt asking you for your name.

SPLASH
Yes, and a particularly attractive shade of blue. Eye-catching graphic, recent photos also which immediately leads me to presume site may also be topical and up to date. Text, verdana 8, a good site font. Again, reasonably clear splash page, link text to nominated/links/reviews. Rate site altered during review to a dual rate button ( obviously Sandra is also psychic and read my mind before receiving this review!) , only a small grip but the adopted button jarred a tad but is placed lower down screen so doesn’t detract from general classy first impact Link splash pages colour match, nice use of CCS. I did notice the elite banner once again and site doesn’t exist, but besides that – all buttons linked to correct sites. Minor gripe, lead in graphic – site link was only on bottom image with enter typing on – threw a simple person like myself for a few moments!

GRAMMAR / SPELLING
Seems almost faultless – which is scary because once again, Sandra, the web mistress is from Holland (please tell me she is English and emigrated…) because I have to say she puts most English students to shame! Some sentences within site sit a little awkwardly ie. occasional misuse of tenses and mix up on a few descriptive terms but nothing unduly worrying and a credit to a site designer who’s 1st spoken language is not English, it’s a difficult enough language to speak…writing it – well – it’s a sod!

BROKEN LINKS / IMAGES
A fair few back buttons aren’t working - Bookmarks – wrong link – pop up page unknown? Pic of the month also, and many within photo section Not everyone knows how to use back button within internet explorer so this obviously ruins the fluid movements within what is an otherwise well linked site.

UPDATES
Every day it seems! Wonderful to see, little and often but this makes the viewer return and return again and I just adore the personal touches.

CODE
Yup! Just where it should be, splash page under reviews so point awarded – and good to see that link is also going to Loifeline back at Westlife Network after our recent move, so very on the ball to have updated link - *generously throws in an extra half mark!*

OVERALL
Specifically enjoyed the personal touches within updates, web mistress’s life, almost diary like, makes viewer feel connected. Tag coding on lyrics was slightly jarring as after viewing one track, had to hand scroll up page, suggest back button between each lyric, although having said that – discography section was very pleasing on eye and professional in appearance. Saying all this, and liking this site I really desperately would like to see more information. There scope for plenty of additions to the lads ie. Facts and figures – maybe an angle on publicity / articles / news from Holland, they are popular on the continent – Make your site stand out. After all – they have seen the site card, they may be watching...
