Where We Are: So far

Posted on 27 July 2010
The Where We Are tour is now over half way through and we wanted to celebrate what has been an amazing tour so far!

We want Westlife fans to give us their thoughts about this years tour by answering some questions in the coming weeks and we'll be putting the best answers up on the website as a tribute to the Where We Are Tour.

The second topic we want you to think about is:

From the tour so far what has been your best moment or memory? Did you catch the eye of one of the boys? Did anything funny happen with your friends? Anything that will be memorable and that other Westlife fans would love to hear about...

Less updates

Posted on 23 July 2010
Hey everyone,

Sorry for the less updates these days... But I'm busy with changing the whole site. I noticed there were some problems with it, so I decided to change the whole site. Including a new layout. smile I don't know when it all will be done, because there's sooo much that I've to do. But in the meantime the site will be still open and of course it will be updated if there's some new. So keep coming! wink

xx Sandra

A blog from Shane

Posted on 22 June 2010
Hi Guys!

Just a note to say how delighted we are with the tour so far. It's been our most enjoyable tour by far and we feel you enjoyed it in a big way too!! We can't wait now for the summer shows and of course our show in Sligo on 30th of July. That is going to be a very special night for us!

Also thank you to everyone who supported soccer aid this year. It was a massive success for UNICEF and we were so chuffed to be involved and of course it was great to beat England! Third time lucky I suppose.. But on the night I think we deserved the win.

It was amazing to play at Old Trafford and even more amazing to play with all the soccer legends! Myself and Nicky really enjoyed it and made a lot of new friends... Bring on 2012!!!

See you all soon guys

Love always

Shane

Meet judge Picksy Lott

Posted on 11 June 2010
By COLIN ROBERTSON

X FACTOR wannabes are set to be at the mercy of teen songstress Pixie Lott next week, TV Biz can reveal.

The 19-year-old impressed show chief Simon Cowell after she appeared on Britain's Got Talent last week as a guest singer.

And last night he offered her the vacant stand-in judge slot for Monday's auditions in Birmingham.

Pals say she will take up the challenge of picking who will progress to the next stage of the ITV1 show. Pixie will fill in for pregnant judge Dannii Minogue.

A show source revealed: "Pixie may be young but she's not afraid to speak her mind. She's only been in the charts for just over a year but she already sounds like a pro.

"And unlike a lot of pop acts these days, she's happy singing live so is well-qualified to judge the wannabes."

The source added: "Simon was really blown away by her performance last week on BGT and his mind was made up."

Pixie, from Bromley, Kent, was signed up as a professional singer at the tender age of 15.

She topped the charts twice last year with Mama Do and Boys and Girls.

Cowell picked Pixie to inject some teenage insight into proceedings. And she should prove a big hit with the acts as many are in her age group.

Robbie Williams, Charlotte Church, Lily Allen and one of the Westlife boys are also believed to be in the frame to be stand-in judges.

Westlife To Compete In JP McManus Invitational Pro-Am

Posted on 03 June 2010
Irish boy band, Westlife have confirmed they will play golf in the JP McManus Invitational Pro-Am on the 5th and 6th July 2010.

The band will join a host of leading celebrities including Hugh Grant, Samuel L. Jackson, Aidan Quinn, Michael Flatley and Kyle McLachlan along with sporting greats such as AP McCoy, Martin O’Neill, Niall Quinn, Paul O’Connell, Harry and Jamie Redknapp at Adare Manor Hotel & Golf Resort next month.

Westlife are possibly the most recognisable Irish faces on the planet with band members Mark Feehily, Shane Filan, Kian Egan, and Nicky Byrne. Since their formation in July 1998, Westlife have gone on to sell over 44 million records worldwide. They have come a long way since their beginnings and have managed to garner 14 number one singles in the United Kingdom, the third-highest in UK history, tying with Cliff Richard and trailing behind only Elvis Presley and The Beatles. The Westlife lads have now returned to centre stage with their 10th album ‘Where We Are’ and a tour of the same name kicked off this month.

Commenting on the announcement, Tournament host, JP McManus said; “We are delighted that Westlife are joining us to play in the Pro Am. They will add great excitement and we very much appreciate the time and support they are giving to the event. With only six weeks to go before the tournament, the anticipation is already building and to date, we have sold over 24,000 entrance caps with only 6,000 remaining. We would therefore urge people to purchase their caps as soon as possible to avoid disappointment”.

The aim of the JP McManus Invitational Pro-Am is to support mid-western charities and groups in their work with the underprivileged and disadvantaged. All proceeds are donated in their entirety towards the development of these services .

JP McManus said: "We're delighted JB, Rickie and John have all agreed to play in the tournament. JB and Rickie are two of the most exciting young players on tour and we are sure they will make a major connection with the Irish crowds at Adare Manor. John is an old friend of Irish golf fans, remains as popular as ever and we appreciate his support for the tournament."

Spectators can choose from one of eight different coloured “two-day entrance caps” representing Ireland, Munster Rugby and each of the Munster counties.

At a cost of €50 for both days, they can be purchased from the website on www.jpmcmanusproam.com or at selected retail outlets.

Look who's taking after dad - yes, it's Nicky's boys

Posted on 03 June 2010
By Claire Murphy

THE STAGE is set for the Westlife juniors to follow their dads into the showbiz world.

Proud dad Nicky Byrne has posted a picture of his three-year-old twin sons Rocco and Jay on his Twitter site.

The toddlers are snapped in matching jeans and jumper outfits reaching up to the microphones on stage at a stadium in the UK where Westlife are performing.

The two appear comfortable in front of the mic and Nicky (31) said that he couldn't resist posting the cute photo.

"I just had to tweet this!" Nicky said. "Rocco n Jays first soundcheck. Newcastle metro arena 31/5/10."

Nicky has admitted that the group love the touring, no matter how tough the schedule.

"Touring is our baby. When we promote a single it's normally a big ballad so we're limited to what you can do with the live performances," he said.

"So touring is like getting out of school on our summer holidays where we can go daft."

Nicky and his wife Georgina Ahern have been together since they first met in school.

"From the moment I saw Georgina, I put her up on a pedestal," Nicky once revealed.

"I could have a conversation with anyone, but I couldn't talk to Georgina."

Karaoke

Their twin sons celebrated their third birthday recently but already appear to be following in their father's footsteps.

Nicky lost his own dad Nikki last year and revealed that he was part of the reason he went into showbusiness.

The late Nikki, a former singer on the cabaret and karaoke circuit, was part of Nikki and the Studz in his earlier days and also used to perform with Nicky when he was younger.

Long-time friend, the showband legend Sonny Knowles, sang Smile at the funeral service and there was also a performance from Westlife.

Shane Filan (30), Kian Egan (30), Mark Feehily (29) and Nicky are currently in the middle of a hectic sold-out tour schedule.

Westlife's Mark said that they were chuffed that so many people have called their sons after them.

And he also joked that have anticipated a baby boom thanks to their next album. "You can listen to it while you're conceiving," he joked. "We're in meetings this week for the next album and have lots of ideas as we want to get out by the end of the year."

The Irish band's last album sold over a million copies.
